A year ago in the Spring I drove from Charlotte to North Alabama to take some dearly loved family photos for our closest family friends and their new baby boy! The morning we took these, the rain pitter-pattered down the windows, fog hung over the cornfields nearby, and his big sister with redhead curls sang songs in the next room. Watching my dear friend be such a tender Mama (again!) to her babies melted my heart in a way I can’t fully describe. I nannied Marjie & her siblings when they were so little and now we are very close friends (even with over a decade between us!) sharing the highs & lows of motherhood, hard high risk pregnancies & a hundred facetimes between our babies close in age. How grateful I am for lifelong friendships that always feel so dear to be near & to laugh & cry through life with! I love you N family with all my heart! Thank you again for the joy of photographing the arrival of your perfect baby boy! He is the most darling little guy!

Two baby squirrels scampered in their yard to my sheer delight. The light scent of a single gardenia that was blooming outside the nursery window lofted in the air. Laughter shimmered through the house, teasing & full. In the hot month of August before Autumn came, a long wait ended: the baby they’d always longed to see was finally in their arms. “It was always him.”

Gently, tenderly, sweetly in love with a baby to hold. What a gift. Congratulations to C & K on the arrival of their darling little boy who is already so deeply, dearly, loved. What a joy to behold you.

When the pavement turned to gravel in the middle of the woods to a house not yet seen, I laughed softly to myself “It’s Aaron’s brother, they’re not going to kill you.”

I drove a few winding roads, past a few horses and up a hill and there was the house in a wooded glen. I was welcomed in to toddler cheers, a dog that wanted to be seen & loved and a cat that wanted to be pasted to my side. The busyness of life didn’t stop because I had arrived, it just swirled around me as we sipped coffee in the kitchen and chatted about the flowers the owner before had planted to bloom in every season. We bribed the little ones with tortilla chips to be still for 2 minutes (so real) and everyone cuddled around the newest Ingle: little baby Ella. The Ingles made me feel like family on a Monday morning and I’ll never forget it.

I think the owner would have loved the shrieks of happy children running on the floors of the home she loved, artwork hung in the playroom, a baby in the garden amidst the flowers she planted. One hot sticky summer morning in July a new season arrived, the one with Ella Ingle in it, and it was the best. Congratulations, Ingles!

Amid a blazing heatwave, the delivery of wood via barge for their neighbor’s dock, and a flurry of hugs, I was welcomed into the Carroll’s home on a July morning. I gasped at their perfect green couch and stunning windows which were an actual dream!

We took photos in the living room with sunlight just pouring in, by the fireplace Chris put in, in the room he decided to paint himself. After a doorway peek in his office I spotted little his little girl’s artwork and his great grandfather’s flag framed up just like my grandfathers flag was and I cried. We stood around the kitchen island and laughed about our toddlers and the dog nudged my camera suspiciously until I patted her head. Worship music drifted into every room as life quietly, joyfully held us all captive to another miracle’s arrival.

Capturing a family in the home they love is the very best. Photos framed on the walls with memories, knowing yours will join them in this “one present beautiful moment” is something that I love so deeply!

Tender brushed kisses against baby’s head, soft hugs, adoring glances, the shrieks of A’s laughter over Dad reading a book, the peace of being held by Mama. What a good, good life. And what a joy to see it! Congratulations to the dear Carroll family who showed up with their hearts on their sleeves, their precious girls, their whole world in their arms.

What a honor and joy to have been taking family photos and newborn photos for my dearest friend Emily since the start of my photography business over a decade ago! Taking these photos at the end of our Florida stay in March was the very sweetest for me and I definitely cried a little bit. Little Annabelle is the delight of the whole Grow family!! She is so so very precious and beautiful. And my goodness newborn sessions never get old! Congratulations, Emily & Michael! We love y’all! Welcome, little Annabelle.

I gasped the moment I stepped into the Cheek family home when I saw how beautifully my friend Victoria had decorated for Christmas! And what could be sweeter than a baby for Christmas! Surrounded by cheer, joy, laughter bounding through the rooms, shimmering twinkling lights, a little cold snap in the air, Maverick the dog, and their love, these photos are some of the loveliest “Christmas magazine” newborn photos! Congratulations to the beautiful Cheek family on the arrival of their dearest little boy! A Christmas to remember, for always.

Earlier this October it was my delight to photograph the dearest newborn session for my sweet friend Caroline, as they welcomed their little baby girl! What a gift it truly feels like to have this job, and give back such sweet memories they will be able to treasure forever, and hang in living room frames, and fill family albums with. Little L is the sweetest little angel girl, and H was an absolute joy tornado, full of life, adventure, and imagination. Congratulations, Heys family!

And in the Spring…the Robinsons welcomed their second little daughter. They laughed and cuddled, tickled, chased, played, and drank the wonder of her in. Just the sweetest family and the best in home newborn session!
