October 1, 2015 ~ Cocoa Beach, FL ~ The Surfing Sessions
Best decision I made last week was checking the surf report one Thursday afternoon, and spending 3 hrs at the Cocoa Beach Pier, photographing surfers. It was beautiful weather and there were gorgeous swells due to Hurricane Joaquin going by.
What I didn’t realize was how addicted to surfing pictures I’d become!! I’m ALL kinds of addicted.
Summer might be fading in other parts of the States, but Summer still lingers here into our “Autumn”,
and the Summer flats turn into Autumn swells.
There were about 30 surfers in the water, each one with flair and style. I’ve always loved watching surfing, but taking pictures of it is even better!! It’s so stunning to capture a surfer doing a move at 1/2000th of a second,
to suspend someone on a wave. Their whole ride is all of 6-10 seconds, and it’s a fast, whipping, twisting, exhilarating happiness that they all love. And I love watching it. I can’t wait to go back!!
